This website promotes a thematic approach in the classroom using primary source texts and images. While the main focus is upon history – interdisciplinary connections to literature, art, and other social studies are possible through the use of social history themes. Elementary, middle, high school, and college students can benefit from inquiry learning using primary sources and gain new insights by comparing modern everyday life to the past.

My two books, published by Rowman and Littlefield, describe this thematic approach.

Exploring Vacation and Etiquette Themes in Social Studies: Primary Source Inquiry for Middle and High School

Investigating Family, Food, and Housing Themes in Social Studies
