Magazine advertisement for the Santa Fe Railroad promoting tourism to the Grand Canyon, 1909. Magazine articles and advertising increased interest in vacation and tourism. The text of this advertisement promotes the “winterless” climate of the American southwest, the comforts of the Pullman sleeping cars, the affordability of the trip, the El Tovar hotel on the rim of the Grand Canyon managed by Fred Harvey, and the availability of side trips around and in the canyon.
