Hall stands had hooks for hats and coats, a mirror for a visitor to check his or her appearance, a stand for umbrellas, and table for visiting cards or other small objects. Hall stands appeared in the 1830s and 1840s and were at their peak of popularity in the 1880s in middle and upper class homes.

  1. I could use this in my future classroom by demonstrating every day life in the mid 1800’s. Be a super cool way to show kids how people used to hang their hats and coats.
