The American Antiquarian Society houses a large collection of books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers, periodicals, music, and graphic arts material printed through 1876, as well as manuscripts and secondary texts, bibliographies, and digital resources and reference works related to all aspects of American history and culture before the twentieth century.
Many of their images are digitized. I subscribe to their blog on Facebook which regularly features interesting images and information from the past.
