This 1909 advertisement for Campbell’s soups says their fresh, convenient, and inexpensive canned soups taste good enough for the finest tables. A maid serves the soup to the stylishly dressed diners and guests. The wife appears to be receiving praise for providing a wonderful meal. At the bottom of the advertisement, in small print, the reader is encouraged to order a free copy of the Campbell’s Menu Book for more ideas for canned soup. A Campbell’s Kid also appears in the bottom, right corner.

This image would be great to use on a unit of advertising.
Canned soup served by a maid!? Great example of how the status of processed food has changed over time.
