Mansion House, Oneida Community

The Mansion House was constructed in 1861 to meet the needs of the unique social structure of the Oneida Community.
This double image is a stereograph, a card created to view through a stereoscope. These popular devices created a three-dimensional image for a viewer. Viewing images of famous landmarks, distant locations, major events, and entertaining scenes was a popular pastime in late nineteenth century. Courtesy of Library of Congress
